For the first time in 200 years, the U.S. will see two broods of cicadas invading at once

The cicadas of these broods have not awakened at the same time since 1803. The next time such a coincidence will not occur until 2445 at the earliest.

In 2021, the Great Eastern brood, denoted by the Roman numeral X (ten), was reported. It is considered to be the largest brood of periodic cicadas.
